January 2025
Loran Tang, recruiter and training coordinator of Children Ministry

What’s coming up this year…..?

The year of 2025 doesn’t look easy to us. Some of us started with health challenges and some with financial stress in the generally weak economy. However, these are the reasons to draw us even closer to God. We work with many people but the direction is only one, which is to God and be kept in Him. Flourish or bleak; high or low. Let’s walk this journey together!

For families - Family worship event on Family Day Sunday

Let’s pencil down the date! On February 16, the Sunday of Family Day long weekend, we will do something different to celebrate Family Day. Parents and children can experience the joy of worshiping together. Parents have the choice of bringing their children into adult services, or joining and staying in the children’s programs. (Please note: no children workers will be on duty for the day, and therefore, if you join the children’s program, parents MUST stay with their children.)

This special arrangement applies to the sessions of Preschool, Junior and Children Worship from 9:30am to 10:45am, and Preschool Sunday School and Children Sunday School from 11:15am to 12:45pm. The nursery will be available for use, but parents must stay with their children.

In the 9:30am session, all the kids will sit with their families in the English adult service to sing praises. After praise time, if families would like to join the children’s program, they can proceed to the new basement, and spend time together listening to the message and doing crafts as a family. In the 11:15am session, if parents plan to join the children’s programs with their kids, please go to the New Basement directly.

For parents - two workshops to keep you on guard

We are in the process of planning two important workshops for parents this year. The one in April will address the harm done by early exposure to the digital world, and what parents can do to better support their children. The second workshop will be held in September focusing on boundaries and guidance.

In the coming months, I will also recommend some good websites, books and other resources that support parents in coaching their children’s spiritual lives in my blog.

Please stay tuned!

For volunteers - fellowship and prayers as a community

As mentioned in my previous blog, our vision this year is to engage our volunteers. We want to support them while they serve with us in the ministry. We had a morning meeting with the Children’s Ministry leaders on Jan 11 to share our visions. This year, we will plan different fellowship meals with our volunteers. Through the intentional conversations, we’ll update each other and pray together. Serving God shouldn’t be alone or lonely!

With God - it’s for Him alone after all

As a doer myself, I understand how we might be busy with work and family, and can be quite lost amidst our busy schedules. I keep reminding myself that all these plans and works are to serve one purpose only - to build up a closer relationship with God. Let’s keep this focus in our minds. This sole goal and focus can draw us back to the right track. Looking forward to partnering with you all this year.
