June 2024

KIDS PROMOTION + NEW KIDS DROP-OFF & PICK-UP POLICIES

As the 2023-2024 school year comes to an end, it is the start of the summer break! In BAC Children’s Ministry, the start of summer is the season of kids promotion. On July 7th, children who have reached a certain age or grade will move on to the next level. Three-year-olds will leave the nursery and join the preschool class. Kindergarten kids will be promoted to the elementary school programs such as Junior Worship and Children Sunday School. Grade 4 students will say goodbye to Junior Worship and move on to Children Worship. Finally, we celebrated the grade 6 students who graduated from Children’s Ministry and entered a new stage of their lives to the Youth Ministry. It is an exciting time for them as they will attend English adult services at 9:30am, start having fellowship meetings on Friday nights, and some will become Leaders In Training at Awana!

July 7th is also the implementation date for our new drop-off and pick-up policies for all elementary school aged programs (kindergarten to grade 6). The change is mandatory based on the updated Safety & Risk Management directives. Also, when the Annex is fully operational, there will be a large group of parents having their services there while their children are in the main building. To minimize the risk of kids going over to the Annex to look for their parents without supervision, the new procedures are very important.

Here are the key changes:

  • Children of all ages are NOT allowed to leave the program area on their own.
  • All children of all grades must be picked up by their parents/guardians ON TIME.
  • Kindergarten to grade 3 parents MUST sign-in/out as well as collect a pick-up card.
  • Older siblings CANNOT pick up their younger siblings.

New procedures:

  1. K-grade 3 parents: a check-in station will be set up in the area before you enter the New and Old Basement. Sign-in/out sheets will be there for parents. While you sign-in, you will also be asked to indicate the name of the pick-up person and a pick-up card will be issued to you. During pick-up, we will verify two things: 1) Pick-up card 2) Pick-up person for the day. Pick-up person must sign-out.
  2. Grade 4 to 6 parents: Sign-in/out is not required for grade 4 to 6 children. However, when the program is finished, children MUST remain in the program area and wait to be picked up. Children must inform the program leader that the pick up person is here before they leave.

The goal of the new policies and procedures is to ensure the safety of the children. Please be patient with each other during this period of adjustment. Should you have any questions, please do not hesitate to contact me at cheryl.li@bacfamily.org.
